EL owned a lot of property on each side of the ROW. I assume the state would have leveled off the line. The Roseville Tunnel section would have probably been bypassed with 80 going northwest to intersect with the Cut-off. DL&W probably picked the best place for a roadbed. 80 does have some tough grades for trucks.
