This is to correct the thread name.  The histories of these cars are confusing enough without having the wrong numbers attached to the real messages.

He obviously didn't try very hard to find anyone to take Erie 2999.  There was a serious offer to save the car from someone when the news first came out that the cars had to be moved off of Long Beach Island.  At a minimum several museums could have used the trucks.

Very odd story and a sad end to the last of the Erie's unique Parlor-Buffet-Diners.
