RE: (erielack) Question: fan trip on DL&W late 1963 or early '64



This was a trip I recall as well.  And one that I did not get to go on
either.  Weren't PA's used instead TMs.  Somebody told me that TM's were
added at Scranton.  I used to, and might still have the flyer for the
trip somewhere.  I think it was supposed to include a trip to the
Berwick car plant.  My uncle worked for EL and told me that it was
severely delayed returning to Hoboken around 2 in the morning.

I remember that trip. It was billed as the last run of the Trainmasters
but 
none had been on the east end for a long time. My friend, Perry
Billington, had 
his dad, a DL&W Trainman working passenger service to Binghamton,
keeping an 
eye out for them as two were reportedly going to be worked east for the
trip. 
When they failed to appear, Perry and I went to Hoboken that morning and
took 
slides but elected not to ride. As I recall, the trip never made it to 
Northumberland due to delays.
