In my time, the Lower Level of the DL&W Passaic River Bridge in Newark was
used only by freight trains from Harrison Yard to serve the team track/freight
house on Broad Street. This was one
of two double-deck railroad drawbridges in Newark (the other being the H&
M/PRR drawbridge downstream) when the station at Park Place was active.
Yes, I recall the Lincoln Hotel was built on the site of the DL&W freight
house and team tracks.
