(erielack) Binghamton/Sayre Connections

Found myself wondering about the interchange jobs between Sayre and
Binghamton today.  I've seen D&H (and EL during the Dereco era) power in
Sayre, and Valley power in Binghamton.  Was this just an exclusive
interchange between the LV and the D&H or was Erie/EL involved as well?  Did
it date back to steam days?  How did it come about?  I guess in some form it
exists as the D&H goes out to Owego on regular basis.
