Thanks for your information Michael, and for Henry's maps.

Most trains would have turned south once across the bridge and go along the 
Niagara River, through downtown to Central Terminal.  Going around the belt 
line, the train would have been facing west - the direction it came from!

Given how hectic BCT would have been at that time, I would like to think 
the NYC switcher yanked the car off the train and took it at least so far.

How far the NYC took the car, someone else hopefully will know.  I'd guess 
to the interchange track.

Why a sleeper would make this move, I dunno.  The DL&W must've had some 
"important" traffic for Detroit.
