Those seven railroad cars that had been parked on Metro-North Railroad
tracks in the City of Port Jervis' West End have been removed.

Neighbors in the community noticed what appeared to be large containers,
presumably to clean the debris and trashed furnishings from the interior.
The cars were removed either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

"This is a great thing for the community and certainly for the
neighborhood in West End where these trains had been parked for the last
several years," said Mayor Gary Lopriore. The mayor received a commitment
from Metro-North a couple of weeks ago that the trains would be moved and
an MTA spokesman told MidHudsonNews.com that once the paperwork was
completed, the cars would be relocated.

Eventually, they will be scrapped in the Midwest.

Residents of Port Jervis were concerned about the cars being left on the
tracks because they became home to teenaged drinking and drugs and a place
for homeless people to stay.
