Re: (erielack) P&D History (PDF problems)

I downloaded the update from 6.02 to 7.00.5, made sure the Acrobat was associated
with .pdf files and now the link opens OK.

  Bob,

It doesn't have anything to do with the EL list or the file on the Millburn,
NJ Library site as far as I can tell. Looking in acrobat at the "open options"
it is set to use the default acrobat magnification and page layout. This PDF
also has embedded thumbnail images in the document.

It is an acrobat v6.x file so older versions may whine, but my v5 opened it
just fine and displayed it normally.

I believe this PDF file was opened with tiny magnification by your netscape
due to preferences from within your netscape and/or acrobat. It may be
configured to display the embedded thumbnail for the first page and require
that being clicked upon to open the full page or you may need to use the
magnifier gadget to increase the viewing size. Your setup is quite dfferent
from mine so I am just guessing here.

I am sure there is nothing here that is unfamiliar to the very
knowledgeable EL list members, but this edition of our Thistle
newsletter, also scanned and posted to the library site, has a couple
paragraphs about our 'phantom railroad.'
In the same issue you will see the Delay, Linger & Wait cartoon
that I posted earlier. I forgot that most of our newsletters are
online, too.
In our collection we have 1906 atlas maps that show the proposed
route of the NJWL railroad and we have a photo of the trestle that was
built for it (in South Mountain Reservation?).

Normally when I click on a link to a pdf file, the file opens in a new
window, the AA banner opening first and then the file.. This link opens
the file in th e-mail message so the image is just over an inch high.
I am using Netscape 7.

Whe I copy the url to Firefox, it opens ok but the usual AA screen does
not preceded the file.

Is this an E-L setting or Lynne's setting? I think it is Lynne's .
