RE: (erielack) NJ Locals

In the early 1960s the P-Burger ran both ways on the Greenwood Lake/Boonton Line. In 1963 some crew member scrawled "The Phillipsburg Rocket" on the back of the caboose. It would go through Mountain View in mid-morning returning around 3 in the afternoon avoiding meeting any of the commuter trains.

At one time, local service on the NY&GL consisted of the GL Haul, which also served the Caldwell Branch, and the Silver Lake Drill, which served the Orange Branch. Additional service was provided
to customers on the Newark Branch and the Seaboard Lead. When the Totowa Roustabout was based out of Croxton, it operated overhead NY&GL territory between Croxton and Mountain View. The
P'burger used to operate westbound via the Morristown Line and eastbound via the Boonton Line/NY&GL territory to Croxton.
