I can tell you from experience, most intermodal terminals are busy ALL THE 
TIME, though you probably have a point about the early morning/late 
afternoon rush periods. The good burghers along the route from the main road 
to the rail yard will just love those 53s going in and out at all hours, not 
to mention the empty containers and all the noise they make...

The idea has real merit, though, given the industrial development of the 
suburban zone in the last 40 years. Assuming the Cutoff ever gets rebuilt, 
such a project could be a real winer, if the NIMBYs can be overcome, and NJT 
will let NS run freights on the line.
