The B&O--EL interchange at Kent required backup moves.
If the B&O was detouring over the EL from Kent to Leavittsburg or
Youngstown, they pulled west of Craine Ave, backed up the interchange, out onto the EL
main--shoving through town and then proceeded west after crossing over.
(They had to cross over at Craine Ave or Summit St, depending on jus twhen and
how they did it).
If the EL was detouring over the B&O from Kent to Sterling they pulled west
of Craine Ave, then backed down the interchange track onto the B&O.
Remember, the EL used cabooses right up to the end so backing was not the
issue that it is today.
