It wasn't platinum mist, but actually silver. (so says the paint diagram I have from GE). "Platinum mist" is more gray in appearance and not nearly as shiny-reflective as the silver on the U34CH's.

The dark blue, when new and clean, sure looks an awful lot like black, especially under bright sunlight. In later years, when it weathered and chalked, the blue color became obvious.
