50 years ago.....
 
First and second graders at Milton J Fletcher School rode an escalator at  
the Erie Railroad Station prior to a 20-minute train ride to Randolph, the first 
 train ride for more than half of the students.   About 90  students toured 
the station, baggage cars, mailing cars, and dining car before  boarding the 
train for the ride.  They were accompanied by 21 parents who  transported them 
back to Jamestown.  Arrangements were made by teachers who  were beginning a 
project on transportation.
