RE: (erielack) FW: Chicago Operations

Erie's passenger trains, along with those of the other C&WI owners Monon, Wabash, GT, and C&EI, were serviced by C&WI at their 51st St coach yard. The Erie also leased some tracks at the same site for freight operations.

Dear Sir,

Do you happen to know where the Erie serviced its passenger cars and passenger engines in Chicago? I know that they entered Chicago over Chicago and Western Indiana right of way and terminated at the Dearborn Street Station. But Erie's South Hammond yard in Indiana would appear to be too far away to handle passenger servicing. Did Erie have facilities within the City? Did the C&WI perform these duties for Erie?
