A friend of mine asked me if ALCo had stayed in business into the
seventies, would the EL have bought the C-636.

His speculation is that because ALCo quit the domestic market in '69,
just around the time when the EL started buying its big pawed, 6 axle
power, the EL missed out on the opportunity to aquire and run these
locomotives.

So the question lies, would the EL have bought the C-636? If so, what
would've the number series have been? Anyone want to draw and paint one
up just to see what it would've looked like?
