Re: (erielack) Gladstone Branch (NJ) bridge?

The activity you saw is the preliminary work for replacement of the famed
Hogback Bridge. Much groundwork has to be done before the new span is put
into place. NJ Transit announced its plan to replace the current structure
late last year. Sevral newspapers carried the story. The actual removal of
the old bridge and placement of the new span will be doen over a week end
starting early on a Friday evening after the last rush hour trains terminate
and will go around the clock to be ready for the Monday morning rush. No
exact date has been announced as yet.

NJT is looking to prserve the old bridge and has offered free of charge to
anyone who can cart it away.
