RE: (erielack) EL gp7 painting



In practice, I have found that painting a plastic body that is gray in
color (i.e., Kato, Proto 2000) really doesn't require a primer coat for
yellow - it might take two or three light coats of yellow, but that's
OK.

I have primed black plastic bodies, however (Athearn, for example),
because it usually takes 5-7 coats of yellow for good coverage without
it. I use Polly Scale MOW Gray as a primer, and the yellow turns out to
be much "truer" of a color... It also will keep you from laying on too
thick of a yellow coat and obscuring details.
