(erielack) Longest Freight Train Ever

June 1929 ERIE MAGAZINE, page 45:

Longest Freight Train

What is said to be the longest freight
train ever moved over any railroad trav-
eled on the main line of. the Erie be-
tween Susquehanna and Port Jervis
April 29. Called Maybrook No. 76 it
comprised 145 cars and weighed 7,300
tons. It is believed to be the forerunner
of longer freight trains generally on the
Erie.

Pretty good sized for 1929.

This issue also reports on the inauguration of the new luxury train, the Erie
Limited.

Hope to have this issue online this afternoon.
