(erielack) Mystery stations

The series of soft-cover books produced by the Railroadians Of America and titled "The Next Station Will Be . . . " depict both the Newburgh station (vol.XI, p27, with a view of the upper [West Shore] level on the next page) and Mountain Ave (vol.III, p - unnumbered, MP 15.2). Both are the very images shown in the contest.

The photos were taken by J.E.Bailey, on assignment for the Erie Railroad to record every building on the railroad in 1909-10; he covered the entire system in a special train which included living cars and a baggage car for darkroom and supplies.

Vol. VI shows a picture of the depot at Chester which is a much more typical railroad station than the contest's Image 2. However, the cover of Vol.IX shows "Greycourt (Chester) NY" [ sic ] with a little freight house in the background that bears a striking resemblance to the contest's No. 2. Go figure.

Better yet, go search.
