(erielack) EL lives, sort of...

Check out the new (Feb. 2002) issue of Railpacee, page 5. There's a
photo of SMS Lines #438, an EMD SW9 - the first EMD for this all-Baldwin
railroad in Southern New Jersey.

But wait! That number struck a chord with me, and sure enough, it's
ex-EL/Erie 438, now part of the URHS collection (sister unit #436 is
repainted back as Erie #436 at the New York & Greenwood Lake). The 438
will work at SMS (no idea how long), and when they're done, it will be
correctly repainted as EL #438! :)

The unit is now painted in an attractive solid green scheme, patterned
after the final Reading Company diesel scheme...
