Re: (erielack) Boonton Line passenger service?

My previously described one-day dash to work in New York while
shepherding my town's Scouts at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, from Andover station
to Hoboken in August, 1965, involved a train change in Netcong in the
early am. The train came in from the west (Washington I imagine) and we
proceeded via the Boonton Line. I can vaguely remember the timetable
showing certain Dover-Hoboken trains with the words "via Boonton Line"
covering the stations on the M&E. Since the Boonton Line was not
electrified, I believe the trains were diesel from Washington or Netcong
mostly. I don't think we stopped, and the passage IIRC was fast and
straight. My evening return was also via a Washington train, change at
Netcong to a 2 or 3 car Sussex train.

This thread/exchange certainly renewed some long-ago memories. I can
imagine the Sussex Branch would be very useful today. And that is my
profound statement for the day.
