Re: (erielack) Erie Main / Graham Line

Chester was a station stop. My understanding is that it was even in
full service when Greycourt had their station - even though it was
only about 3/4 of a mile away. I believe that the Greycourt Station
was torn out in the 60's and Greycourt continued to remain an
interchange point with the L&HR. I would like to do some digging in
the Erie archives, but I have found references to the station going
back to the 1870's - having been rebuilt in the early 1900's.

I spent a lot of time between the two places when I lived in Chester.
Definately one of my favorite railroad spots... :)

My understanding is that the Graham Line has less of a grade
throughout its duration and became the preferred route. As
opposed to Conrail having to pay taxes on the trackage of
that part of the Erie Main, which gradually saw less and less
traffic, they removed the track completely. Whether or not
this is completely accurate, I am not sure - I remember
reading it online somewhere. To the best of my personal
 recollection, this seems correct though.
