Re: (erielack) December calendar photo



Yeah.. 5000 gals.  The SD45-2's have that odd high-side tank so they could
carry the same amount of fuel, allowing them to be intermixed with the SDP's
on the Chicago-NJ trains.   Seems like the tank was so big that when loaded
they sat too low at first and they had to be shimmed up for clearance (not
altogether differently than adding those Kadee shims to the trucks of your
HO frieght cars) -

Seems like 5000 gals was cutting it close, if a train was delayed or some
such - I've seen shots of hot piggybackers east of Bingo or PJ with 4 or 5
geeps on the point filling in for SD's that needed servicing and fuel before
making it back to Jersey.
