Re: (erielack) Erie MOW Equipment

Ben & all-

As far as I can tell, there are no pictures of either of these items in
books. There is a picture of a Jordan (no relation) Spreader in EL, but
not Erie. It's in The Northeast Railroad Scene, Book #4, the Erie
Lackawanna on page 85. I don't believe the Erie or the EL had 120 ton
Brownhoist cranes, at least I can't find any on the rosters. They had 150,
160 & 250 ton cranes, but no 120 Brownhoist are listed.

About a year ago, and this is worth repeating for the newer list members, I
put up some MS Excel data files on my web site. These files contain a
roster list of all the EL, DL&W and Erie engines and rolling stock. These
files also contain data on each engine and cars by class number of the
entire roster. Most important to modelers are the references as to where
pictures of these engines and cars can be found in most of the books
available to the public. The files are broken down by engine type,
passenger cars, cabooses, and freight including MOW equipment. There is
also a list of other railroads in my local New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania area, but refer only to the EL books available. Here is a
list of the files and their sizes that can be downloaded:

DL&W Engines (418K)
Erie Engines (408K)
Erie Lackawanna Switcher Engines (203K)
Erie Lackawanna Passenger Diesels (109K)
Erie Lackawanna Freight Diesels (356K)
DL&W, Erie & E L Passenger (691K)
DL&W, Erie, EL & NYS&W Cabooses (341K)
DL&W, Erie & EL Freight cars (304K)
NYS&W and Other local RR Engines (76K)

Here's where you can find the files on the very bottom of the page:

These will only be accessable if you have Microsoft Excel in your computer.
Follow the instructions carefully when you download. It will take a while.

If you find a reference to a book that you don't have, then check our Books
and Publication page for availability at:

Hope this helps you find pictures of the equipment you want to model.
