Netcong was never painted. Legend has it that the distinctive brown bricks
were quarried near Port Murray. Lackawanna also used that brick elsewhere
for stations such as Dover, Binghamton, Newark and a few others.
Newton station was simple red brick. It seems to have been painted green
after the porch roof was removed late in the steam era.
