According to H. Roger Grant in "Death of an American Railroad", it was the Erie that
persuaded Ford to locate their plant in Mahwah. Ford was practically sold on an
unspecified site along the Pennsy when Erie's Industrial Development Department
swayed them over. This coup resulted in roughly a $9 million revenue increase in
1956.
