Re: (erielack) EL industries

Let's see, from the west end, we would have:

Huntington: Majestic Corp, a maker of heating units. In and out-bound
boxcars (Mostly 40'). Erie Stone limestone quarry (actually on the Wabash,
but the Erie got there): In and outbound open hoppers. Located next to the
yard, just diagonal from the depot, was a grain elevator (As there was at
nearly EVERY Erie-served town in Indiana). In and out Covered hoppers.
Huntington piggyback ramp (A whitelined DL&W flatcar with one truck mounted
and the other end in the gravel): 89' flats in and out. A rail crane
manufacturer (the name escapes me): gons, boxcars and flats in, rail cranes,
and crane parts in boxcars or on flats out. Huntington Labs: Boxcars in, to
be unloaded at a team track. Farm Bureau Co-op lumber yard: flats/boxcars of
lumber products in (No centerbeam cars).

Laketon: Laketon Refinery. Tank cars in and out, also boxcars out.

Decatur, Tocsin, Preble, Bippus, Akron, Rochester, Monterey, North Judson
and others had those grain elevators previously mentioned.

Lima, OH: Wasn't there a military tank manufacturing plant there that the
Erie served, or at east carried loads towards?, plus a refinery.

Marion, OH: Maytag plant. Steel rolls in (gons?) and 40'/50' Hi-Cube bocars
out (Finished appliances).

Not to mention all of the possible loads carried for dropoff at interchange
points (Huntington-Wabash, Kingsland-NKP, Rochester-NKP, etc).

Hope this helps.
