As far as interstate passenger trains are concerned, aside from some of the
east coast services (ConnDot, VRE, for example), out of Chicago, Metra
operates suburban service everyday to Kenosha, WI and the South Shore Line
(NICTD) operates trains to Gary, Michigan City and South Bend. Also, until
October, 1982, Chicago's RTA still had suburban service via the Milwaukee
Road to Walworth, WI (passenger service presently ends at Fox Lake, IL) and
until August 5, 1975, the C&NW (under the RTA banner) still ran service to
Lake Geneva, WI. Under Metra, service on the former C&NW still runs to
McHenry, IL, although the tracks are still in-service for frt. to Ringwood,
IL.
