(erielack) ORER on CD

For those of you that have seen their add and especially for those that
haven't, Westerfield has just released copies of the July 1950 and
January 1955 Official Railway Equipment Registers on CD-ROM. They also
produce one with 30 years of PRR from 1893-1926 and a general one for
January 1959. If you have ever tried to purchase one of the paper copies
you know how much they go for (especially on eBay!) so the $20.00 for
the general issues is a bargain (PRR CD is $30.00).

The CD is the scanned images of the pages of the respective ORER's, not
scanned and OCRed. It does not include the reference sections of the
ORER's just the car listings which is what most people want anyway. For

For those that want the reference sections you will still need to
mortgage the farm (unless you are VERY lucky to get one at a bargain
price). Otherwise these CD's will probably be very welcome to modelers
and historical types. Oh be forewarned that you will need a program
capable of displaying TIFF and JPEG image files to view the pages.
Something like Adobe Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro will work nicely.
