I thought most of the "CR" stencils were done using existing shop stencils?
The italicized "CR" is simply taken from the Penn Central stencils (use the
Microscale decals for those)...

The book "Conrail Motive Power Review, Vol. 1" by Lloyd/Marre has a couple
of photos: 1884 (ex-EL 6361, nee-DL&W 636A) is shown in EL paint with a
black nose door (!) and a VERY hastily restenciled "CR" on the nose and
sides (they used black spray paint to remove the EL markings, arrrgh!)
Another shot shows CR 1888, restenciled a little more neatly in its EL
paint. And F7B 3862 is shown in EL paint, with a large black rectangle over
the former number (7122, nee-Erie 712B) and a large Gothic "3862" painted on
the black patch in white paint (or were they stick-on letters?) The hasty
stenciling is pretty evident - the "3" and "2" are of a lighter weight than
the "8" and "6"!
