prco.gif PRCo is a gif of a photo I got courtesy of William D. Volkmer of Whittier, CA. It's a shot of the south end of Pittsburgh's Liberty Tunnels in the 1920's, when streetcars coming down West Liberty Avenue used to turn left onto Saw Mill Run Boulevard and then right onto Warrington Avenue before entering the right of way on which the Mount Washington Transit Tunnel was located. By the 1930's, a ramp had been constructed from the center of West Liberty Avenue about 2 blocks shy of this intersection leading up to the opposite side of the Saw Mill Run Valley from Palm Garden, for which the Palm Garden trestle over the valley was named. The cars shown in the shot are of the Standard Steel type, if I'm not mistaken.
