It is on the point of an empty unit grain train which will be heading east on the Taber Sub, manned by a crew out of Lethbridge, AB. The original #8838 was a GP9, built by GMD in 1959 and later rebuilt by CP as GP9u, chop-nosed and renumbered to #1697 in 1987.
