    Subject: Homegrown steam power. A Great Western Railway engine, Number 4247. The 42XX class of locomotive were designed to work the mineral trains of South Wales, their 2-8-0 configuration was set up to allow them to navigate the tight turns found on these lines. 4247 was part of a batch built between 1916 and 1917. Over 150 were built, of slightly varying design, between 1910 and 1940.This particular locomotive was photographed on 24 May 2003, on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, a preserved line that runs for approximately ten miles between Cheltenham Racecourse and Toddington. Photo of 4247 running round her train at the newly opened Cheltenham Racecourse Station.
