From: Ohwellek -AT- aol.com Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 09:15:29 EDT Subject: Horn / Whistle - Steamtown The continuing saga of Steamtown's NKP. 514 GP/9, and its horns. She's now running around with a Leslie A-200 156 on the long hood, and an Airchime K-3L on the short hood. I've learned from one of the regular engineers that all of them have been instructed not to blow the horns at full volume, by the upper management! There is no noise ordinance put forth by the city of Scranton, Pa. Its just a case of the non railroading management becoming annoyed by the 514s horns. What's next? Electric car horns? Incidentally, the former Nathan P-5 that I originally built for the locomotive is now in my collection, I purchased it from the individual at Steamtown who owned it. At least, now its beautiful chord of C#, E, F#, A, C#. will still be heard, rather than wasting away in some dark corner at Steamtown. Ed K. HORNS INC. image/jpeg, 955x698 (46kb) HIXP-5X1stXgen.jpg |
