From: "Daniel Syrcher" sst703 -AT- localnet.com Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 00:11:09 -0400 Subject: This is the entrance to the former Bethlehem Steel Plant now called Gateway. You can make out the existing rails to the left center of the photo. You can also see that there isn't much left of the original steel plant. image/jpeg, 640x480 (24bit) gateway1-2.jpg    36214 bytes |

From: "Daniel Syrcher" sst703 -AT- localnet.com Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 00:11:09 -0400 Subject: This picture was taken while flying north along the CSX line and then turned west at CP Draw. BIDCO is evident with several barges docked along the Buffalo River with ADM across the street. General Mills is to the right but out of the picture. Lafarge is to the extreme left and half of the structure is in the picture. image/jpeg, 640x480 (24bit) Gansonst-2.jpg    43185 bytes |

From: "Daniel Syrcher" sst703 -AT- localnet.com Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 00:39:54 -0400 Subject: Pennsylvania RR freight house on Ohio St. This is the south side of the building. It's also the RR loading side with a visible loading platform. The bumper and rails are still in place. The rails disappear into the weeds and therefore not sure how far they actually go. I walked the rails for several yards trying to find a time stamp on them. The rails are too far gone to be able to read them. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) PRR1_Ohio_St.jpg    170344 bytes |

The bumper is the immediate left. You can see the crumbling of the overhang. I don't think this building could handle more than one boxcar. Maybe it could handle two boxcars with a first generation boxcar. image/jpeg, 960x1280 (24bit) PRR2_Ohio_St.jpg    247181 bytes |

From: "Daniel Syrcher" sst703 -AT- localnet.com Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 00:39:54 -0400 Subject: Pennsylvania RR freight house on Ohio St. This photo shows the truck side of the Pennsylvania RR building. There is no loading platform other than the building itself. There are three loading bays. There are no rails on this side of the building. The Pennsylvania RR logo has been stripped from the front of the building. This building is also in very dangerous condition. The structure is falling apart and mostly from above. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) PRR_Ohio_St.jpg    174262 bytes |

From: "Daniel Syrcher" sst703@localnet.com Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2006 15:43:43 -0400 Subject: Aerial photo from 6500ft on 6-13-06. Looking down on the CSX Frontier Yard and NS Bison Yard. Although clouds obscure the yards a little you can see the West Shore row at Harlem Rd and Walden Ave. You also get a good view of the track layout of Frontier. You can also make out the ex-DLW row leaving the yard and the reservoir next to it. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) csx-ns1-6-13-06-ds.jpg    121670 bytes |

The large building opposite the terminal is the U.S. Post Office. The former CPRail Yard [SK Yard] is viewable at the top of the photo. There appears to be a Conrail unit parked near the SK Yard office but I couldn't verify it. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) csx-ns3-6-13-06-ds.jpg    144777 bytes |

You can clearly see the ex-DL&W row coming out of the Bison Yard next to the reservoir and crossing over CSX at Frontier. You can see the former Palace Car Co roundhouse. The patch of grass next to it is where the West Shore roundhouse was located. This is according to the map on page 139 from the book, "A History of Railroads of Western New York." image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) csx-ns2-06-13-06-ds.jpg    250048 bytes |

Primarily Ganson St with ADM, General Mills and LaFarge. There were no ships docked here at the time I flew over them. At the bottom and just left of center you can see 3 silos remaining of the HO OATS elevators being torn down for the casino. You can clearly see the area where sand is delivered and transferred across from ADM. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) Gansonst-06-13-06-ds.jpg    180518 bytes |

Then it proceeded. image/jpeg, 640x480 (24bit) DSC00985.jpg    51094 bytes |
