Thousands of cans of string beans spilled from both cars. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 04-trainwreck.jpg    208739 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Sun Dec 10 21:30:44 2006 Subject: This is a zoomed in look where the 2nd boxcar is hanging onto the bridge. The blue boxcar on the bridge is still half on the rails. They are clearing all the broken trucks and axles buring underneath. Trains were operating in both directions at this time. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 05-trainwreck.jpg    85591 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Thu Aug 9 10:38:20 2007 Subject: For years I've been boating up the Buffalo River to check out rail traffic going across the river. It is a fasinating place to watch. I've always noticed that the River crossing bridge was either missing nuts or about to. After the MSP bridge collapse and a recent run up the river, I was more aware of the bridges condition and took some photos. This is an upclose photo of one plate/joint that has missing nuts. There are others sections on this bridge in similar condition. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 1-Buf_River.jpg    97665 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Sun Dec 10 21:41:08 2006 Subject: After putting out the fire and getting the doors off on the opposite side, the Caterpiller cranes carried this car up towards Walden Ave stopping in front of Niagara Hobby. After they cleared this, they started working on the boxcar hung on the bridge. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 12-2nd_car_moving.jpg    175160 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Sun Dec 10 21:45:07 2006 Subject: They had both cranes tied to the end of this boxcar by think steel cables. They kept yanking but the car wouldn't budge. While waiting for the car to fall I pushed to hard on the button and snapped the picture before I was ready. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 13-hung.jpg    136793 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Sun Dec 10 21:50:11 2006 Subject: It is with great misfortune that this picture came out lousy. They had stopped pulling on the boxcar to reposition the cranes so I wasn't paying attention. But I turned to look at it and realized it had started to fall from the bridge and immediately snapped the picture without waiting for the focus to line up. I guess it's better than nothing. It's not like I can ask them to repeat it. So, this picture shows the car disengaged from the bridge and falling. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 14-dropping.jpg    121178 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Tue Apr 3 21:51:51 2007 Subject: I was flying to the south of the yards in Buffalo, NY. The altitude was 5500 feet above sealevel. The view is looking north, northwest. In the lower portion of the picture you can identify the Lehigh Valley wye that comes from the line along the NYS Thruway. You then can see the NS Bison Yard including the new section along with the ex-DL&W line exiting to the NW going over the CSX Frontier Yard to the top of the picture. The Central Terminal is to the far left but unfortunately it is just out of view. It was very bumpy flying today so I have no idea why the camera worked this time. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 16-RR_Yards_BUF.jpg    281176 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Thu May 3 13:27:20 2007 Subject: This is a look from above at the location of the new Ethanol Plant in Buffalo. The central cluster of elevators is where it will be. I don't know for certain which elevators will be used. The Central Terminal can be located in the far upper left hand corner. New York Centrals elevator, Concrete Central, can be seen about middle right with the bridges crossing the Buffalo River to its left. LaFrarge is at the bottom just left of center. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 17-Ethanol_plant.jpg    232919 bytes |

Again the freight house of the Central terminal can be made out just barely in the upper right and just below the wing strut. It was a beautiful day for flying! image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 18-Ethanol_plant.jpg    238460 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Mon Sep 17 20:15:35 2007 Subject: Today I was riding my bike down to the water front in Buffalo and decided to look for the PennCentral boxcar that is sitting behind Mills Welding along Broadway. I was looking for it along Old Broadway south of the CSX main and I couldn't find it. Coming home via Broadway I came across Greene St just to check it out and I accidently came across the boxcar. How appropriate that the street is named Greene and I found the PC car. The reason I couldn't find it before is that it is covered heavily with overgrowth on the opposite side. You can't see it until fall. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 19-PennCentral_boxcar.jpg    247882 bytes |

You can see two plates that are either missing nuts or they are spun half-way off. We are looking south. CP Draw is to our right [west]. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 2-Buf_River.jpg    172137 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Mon Sep 17 21:28:31 2007 Subject: After crossing Lake Erie from Sunset Bay and the lake getting rougher we decided to make call at Port Colborne. I was stunned to find this Norfolk Southern "rail ferry barge" docked in Canada. I arrived just after sunset and with elevators on both sides, Not the greatest lighting. This name of this vessel is the "Windsor". There are three sets of rails, all painted in white and can been seen clearly in this photo. I came upon this in August of 2007 and I haven't returned to see if it is still docked. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 30-NSrr_Barge-ds-8-26.jpg    171570 bytes |

From: "Dan Syrcher" sst703 -AT- verizon -DOT- net Date: Sun Nov 18 18:09:18 2007 Subject: We are now SW of the plant looking NE. I have to wonder. Looking at the lower left of the photo, I wonder how the residents feel about their new backyard? If they like trains, that's good. If they like corn, that's good. If they have a job there, that's good. If they don't....too late. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) 55-plant-11-18-07.jpg    142933 bytes |

This was a difficult bridge to photograph because it is blocked by trees everywhere as you can see. This is the best side view I could get with the sun lighting it up. I'm standing on the golf course. image/jpeg, 1280x960 (24bit) BR+P1.jpg    311576 bytes |
