Subject: After crossing Lake Erie from Sunset Bay and the lake getting rougher we decided to make call at Port Colborne. I was stunned to find this Norfolk Southern "rail ferry barge" docked in Canada. I arrived just after sunset and with elevators on both sides, Not the greatest lighting. This name of this vessel is the "Windsor".

There are three sets of rails, all painted in white and can been seen clearly in this photo. I came upon this in August of 2007 and I haven't returned to see if it is still docked.

Subject: Today I was riding my bike down to the water front in Buffalo and decided to look for the PennCentral boxcar that is sitting behind Mills Welding along Broadway. I was looking for it along Old Broadway south of the CSX main and I couldn't find it.

Coming home via Broadway I came across Greene St just to check it out and I accidently came across the boxcar. How appropriate that the street is named Greene and I found the PC car. The reason I couldn't find it before is that it is covered heavily with overgrowth on the opposite side. You can't see it until fall.

Subject: This photo was taken while on the Amtrak Santa Train on December 2nd 2007. I knew the car would be in view but as luck would have it, an outbound train from the Frontier Yard got in the way. But, I was able to grab this picture because a flat car which was in-between two boxcars at the precise moment the Penn Central came into view. I didn't even wait for the auto-focus. It was strictly a point and shoot with only 1 second to get it.

I've always noticed that the River crossing bridge was either missing nuts or about to. After the MSP bridge collapse and a recent run up the river, I was more aware of the bridges condition and took some photos. This is an upclose photo of one plate/joint that has missing nuts. In the lower portion of the picture you can identify the Lehigh Valley wye that comes from the line along the NYS Thruway. You then can see the NS Bison Yard including the new section along with the ex-DL&W line exiting to the NW going over the CSX Frontier Yard to the top of the picture. This photo has a lot to look at. Primarily Ganson St with ADM, General Mills and LaFarge. There were no ships docked here at the time I flew over them. At the bottom and just left of center you can see 3 silos remaining of the HO OATS elevators being torn down for the casino. You can clearly see the area where sand is delivered and transferred across from ADM.

csx-ns3: This photo further down the CSX mainline is the Central Terminal at the entrance/exit to the Belt Line. The large building opposite the terminal is the U.S. Post Office. The former CPRail Yard [SK Yard] is viewable at the top of the photo. There appears to be a Conrail unit parked near the SK Yard office but I couldn't verify it.

This photo provides a better overall view of both yards. You can clearly see the ex-DL&W row coming out of the Bison Yard next to the reservoir and crossing over CSX at Frontier. You can see the former Palace Car Co roundhouse. The patch of grass next to it is where the West Shore roundhouse was located. This is according to the map on page 139 from the book, "A History of Railroads of Western New York."

Looking down on the CSX Frontier Yard and NS Bison Yard. Although clouds obscure the yards a little you can see the West Shore row at Harlem Rd and Walden Ave. You also get a good view of the track layout of Frontier. You can also make out the ex-DLW row leaving the yard and the reservoir next to it.

The rails disappear into the weeds and therefore not sure how far they actually go. I walked the rails for several yards trying to find a time stamp on them. The rails are too far gone to be able to read them.
