Re: (rshsdepot) Two PRR buildings lost

I never was able to find the Newport building, and assumed it had been
demolished years ago. I guess I was looking in the wrong place.

Report from the PRR_FAX Yahoo Group:

"The ex-PRR station at Newport, DE and the toolhouse at North East, MD

have recently been razed."

The database at http://www.rrshs.org/Delaware/derrstruc.htm calls the

Newport depot a 1908 wooden structure; no mention of the North East
structure.

Meanwhile, for anyone updating the databases, the Salisbury, Md.
1914-built brick "union" depot (NYP&N/BC&A) was purchased by restaurant

owners looking to set up a brewpub in said building, but after a round

of fights over zoning fees, "impact fees," and the like, the company
set
up the brewery in a disused grocery store several hundred feet over the

Delaware state line in Delmar, Del. I spoke with the owners a week or

so ago, and they're still reviewing options for the building, including

opening another business or selling it.
