I am a member of the board of the Piermont Historical Society in
Piermont, New York. The Village of Piermont owns this station and our
Society has undertaken the task of restoring the building. We found
information concerning the paint colors and many detailed exterior
photographs that have aided in restoration of the exterior.
But the inside is the problem. Did anyone ever photograph the
interiors of stations with the frequency of the exteriors?
I'm afraid I can't be of help in this regard. But I did visit the
station some years ago -- an experience I'll never forget. For many years, the
station was occupied by a man who, as I recall, was the son of the woman who
served as the last agent at this station. Sometime probably around 1990, the
New York Times published an article about him and the station. A week or two
later, a friend and I were hiking in the area and decided to knock on the
door and say hello. The guy who lived there opened the door, invited us inside,
and spent about an hour relating to us the history of the building and his
experiences there.
I'm glad that you're working on restoring this historic structure!
