Dear Depot Enthusiasts,,
I have a copy of /Southern New England Railroad Depots and Freight
Houses/ and /Railroad Stations of Northern New Jersey/.
I am a member of the board of the Piermont Historical Society in
Piermont, New York. The Village of Piermont owns this station and our
Society has undertaken the task of restoring the building. We found
information concerning the paint colors and many detailed exterior
photographs that have aided in restoration of the exterior.
But the inside is the problem. Did anyone ever photograph the
interiors of stations with the frequency of the exteriors?
Perhaps some of your readers can point me in a direction to learn
interior construction in detail. Below is a recent picture of the
Piermont, New York station on the old Erie, Nyack branch. The track was
removed. The roadbed in now a popular walking trail. We have a very
intact station that has never been converted to an alternate use but has
undergone updating since its 1875 layout.

I have located superb exterior photographs but have no information about
the details of the interior layout. We are reasonably certain it had a
central wall creating two waiting rooms served from an agents office
built around the bay window..
Tearing down an old drop ceiling, revealed paint lines on the original
ceiling where the agents office walls were located. I'm interested in
rebuilding the agents office, desk and ticket windows.
Do you know of any info on Erie interiors, or other period interiors,
architectural plans, or elevations.
Best Regards
Karl Knoecklein
