The Denver Union Station Project was given the green light by a federal
agency Monday.

The Federal Transit Administration has issued a Record of Decision on the
project, which describes the redevelopment plans for Union Station as well as
the commitments to mitigate the impacts the project will have on environmental
resources.

The ROD is the culmination of six years of work on the project by the
Regional Transportation District, the city and county of Denver, the Colorado
Department of Transportation and the Denver Regional Council of Governments.

"This is a huge step in moving this complicated project forward," said Lee
Kemp, chairman of the RTD board. "We are anxious to keep the Denver Union
Station Project on track."

The Denver Union Station Project is the centerpiece of the $6.1 billion
FasTracks public transit improvement plan. Union Station will be redeveloped to
include light rail, passenger rail and regional bus facilities.
