History of Florida railroad depots captured in new book

The railroad stations that have served Central Florida since before the  
Civil War are now visually preserved in a book commemorating rail's history and  
heritage.
 
Images of the railroad depots of not only Central Florida, but the northern  
counties of Florida, are displayed in "Railroad Depots of Central Florida,"  
published by Arcadia Publishing (_www.ArcadiaPublishing.com_ 
(http://www.ArcadiaPublishing.com) ).
 
The progression of Winter Haven's own railroad station, from the original  
edifice in 1924 to its current-day building, is shown on pages 100 and 101 of  
the book.
 
The book is part of the Images of Rail series, which has celebrated the  
history of not only rail, but also trolleys, streetcars and subways across the  
country.
 
The author, Michael Mulligan, is a member of the National Railway  Historical 
Society, among other organizations. He has worked in the parks and  
recreation field for the 30 years and obtained the photographs from local  historical 
groups, the Florida State Archives and private collections.
 
"Railroad Depots of Central Florida" can be purchased for $16 to $20 at
