Louis Droge of Louis Droge Construction in Topeka took pictures in May
and again today when the former St. Joseph and Grand Island depot was
demolished.

Louis said in May: "I contacted Highlands city manager. He said they
were accepting bid on demolition. You might know my son has been
running our construction business since 05. He has been building
custom homes with a old style theme. We use lots of recycled material.
I visited with him about the depot and even though we think there is a
slim chance, we are going to bid on demolition. Instead of trying to
do a restoration like I am doing on the RI Elmont depot we are
thinking of using the outside walls and roof system and build a custom
home that would look similar the the depot using these parts."

Today Louis said: "The depot was beyond repair even by my standards.
On a better note almost all the material will be recycled. I have
already used some of the lumber to repair another RR structure."

He gave me permission to post photos from May and today at
