RE: (rshsdepot) ATSF Seligman, AZ Harvey House demolition

Jim,
Thanks for forwarding the pictures. Can someone provide a bit more
information on the Havasu in its heyday? Some interior and exterior
pictures, any info on how many rooms were available, what did they cost, and
stuff like that. I am an easterner (Pittsburgh) but can relate to the
sadness of looking at this structure in its current stste.
Thanks,
Dick Ullery

There has been considerable discussion on the Fred_Harvey list about
this issue.

As far as the interior, apparently it was pretty much trashed over the
years by vandals, and anything of value had been stolen. The ground
floor had been converted into office space by BNSF as a maintenance of
way office.

One gentleman was given permission by BNSF to go inside to document the
structure. His photos can be found here:

Don's other album on Webshots has numerous exterior shots.

fenced off for several years to protect it. The only interesting part is
that of half-timbered stucco facing the tracks, but the cost of moving even
that part would be prohibitive. The condition of the interior is unknown,
but may not be too bad in that dry climate. Unfortunately, the town of
Seligman is too small to realistically consider saving and rehabilitating
the Havasu, and it remains a liability for BNSF Railroad.
