Re: (rshsdepot) ATSF Seligman, AZ Harvey House demolition

Here on Long Island, once every 20 years or so someone tried to go around the gates with their auto in Mineola where there is/was a large double set of guarded crossings on the two line splitting east of the station, and got hit by a train. Clearly breaking the law. The LIRR was forced to doa grade crossing elimination costing something like 19 million (?)

On the South SHore, kids would take their bikes up on the embankment and some got hit by the ever present commuter trains. So the LIRR has now constructed miles and miles and miles of tight high fencing. Are kids this dumb not knowing trains go to New York on the hour, on the half hour on that line?

A week or so ago I was driving home on a north-south artery here, actually a two lane road...in front of me some kid on a low riding bicycle was on the ground in the street, after he got up traffic began to proceed, but he fell again, then when I got to that point he fell again, his friends on the curb were laughing. The thing is he wasn't really falling due to having problems ridinga bike, he was walking it..It was just him having fun..and I can see if I hit him, despite the fact that traffic accidents are nt held to same standards as most other situations where you harm someone, I am sure I would have been somehow liable. Fora kid purposely falling down in front of moving traffic (albeit slow due to these circumstances)

Our society will come to a standstill if this goes further, it has little t do with real liabilitya s with prescription drugs gone bad or operational safety concerns in inustry...this is just an idiot kid doing something potentiallt dangerous in the middle of the road.

I just think the railroads use all this stiff as excuses to knock everything down...I think theys hould be required to move these structures on their own with their own mone, it won't cost as much as their hires to do publicity, lobby Congress, come up with all sorts of legal shenanigans to abandon routes and milk customers. They should be prevented by law from knocking down these old buildings, and be protected against frivolous lawsuits by trespassers, in this law would be a requirement for signage "If you trespass we are not liable for anything"
