This collection of 16 short tours of restored Pennsylvania train
stations elicits memories of a bygone era when railroads were the way
most people traveled. The documentary shows how these 16 former stations
have been recycled. One is now a public library, two are restaurants,
another is a museum, and several are offices. All of the stations are
beautifully restored, and the documentary makes every effort to show off
their architectural details. Many of the current owners or operators add
color by talking about what the stations were like in the heyday of
passenger rail travel. The documentary's main failing is that it packs
too many stations into too few minutes so none gets more than a cursory
look, making this more travelog than train station history. Pennsylvania
public libraries and others with strong interest in railroads should
consider purchase. bbbv
