(rshsdepot) Balto., Md: President Street Station

Gentlemen:

The meeting where Baltimore's President Street Station's potential designation as a historic landmark is being discussed is TOMORROW AFTERNOON, 3:30 PM, Dept. of Planning, 417 E. Fayette St., Phoebe Stanton Conference Room, 8th Floor:

http://www.ci.baltimore.md.us/government/historic/downloads/022908%20Landmark%20and%20Special%20List%20Designation%20Notification%20Announcement%20for%20March%2011%20hearing.pdf
(PDF, needs Adobe Acrobat)

Also being discussed in that meeting at 3:00: The PRR office building, 200 E. Baltimore St., "Landmark List and Special List hearing continuation [from last month]."

I should reiterate that President Street Station is not technically considered to be in jeopardy *at the moment*. But the city has closed the Baltimore Civil War Museum that was contained inside for several years, and hotel development and general neighborhood gentrification have seen to it that this building's safety is not yet assured.

The Baltimore Chapter NRHS has planned to send a representative to this meeting to make a statement on behalf of the Chapter.

Cheers,
Alexander D. Mitchell IV
