(rshsdepot) Bit of info re; DL & W

As mentioned some while back, my *fave) cousin is a RR buff---a doctor, his
time is spread thin, I edit, send him info from this list--which I think is
great!!!

he sent this comment;

Cuzzin:
Thanks for all the interesting trivia. The history of the DL&W` is that
New Jersey "Cut off" which ran from Port Morris to the Delaware Water Gap and
required an immense amount of fill but saved some 30 miles of out of the way
traffic and a direct shot to Stroudesburg, Pa. The president of the DL&W at
that time was a man named Truesdall and he also devised the new rails along
the old Ligget Gap RR which was along the "old Lackawanna trail"running from
Clarks Summit, Pa. to Halstead, Pa. He took out a lot of curves and grades in
that run out of Scranton which was a horrible grade.

The former DL&W RR & Erie Lackawanna poured concrete station at
Johnsonburg, NJ is gone, demolished sometime within the last few weeks.

Attitude and Perception are everything. Be kinder, more caring, patient,
than necessary, everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here, we might
as well dance!

What you accept, you teach. The choices you make affect not only your life,
but the lives of all with whom you come in contact.
