(rshsdepot) Poughkeepskie RR Bridge/comment FYI

I joined recently, for reasons too lengthy to explain here, my life, that of
my ancestors/kin, are tied no matter what I do, to the RR. My Dad, Gt.
Uncles--with the D & H. My favorite cousin, a nationally
known/repected/acclaimed doctor, is so knowledgeable on railroads, sent me this after I forwarded
the post on the Poughkeepsie Bridge.

" <<< Interesting. FYI that Poughkeepsie bridge was the only link across
the Hudson R. for the then New Havan RR to connect with the Erie, O&W, Lehigh &
Hudson RR, Lehigh & Hew England RR at Campbell Hall, NY near Maybrook, NY,
close to Middletown, NY. It was a large jct. that provided rail traffic from
the west to New England other than the New York Central RR (which had it's own
connection through Albany) and avoiding traffic through New York City. When
that bridge burned, it ruined that interchange at Campbell Hall and virtually
aided in the bankrupcy of many of the eastern railroads incl. the above
named roads.">>>

Attitude and Perception are everything. Be kinder, more caring, patient,
than necessary, everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here, we might
as well dance!

What you accept, you teach. The choices you make affect not only your life,
but the lives of all with whom you come in contact.
