HOOSICK FALLS -- A 16-year-old has been charged with setting a blaze that destroyed the village's 120-year-old railroad station on Saturday.
Police say the youth placed a gasoline-filled soda bottle and lit cigarette underneath a set of stairs at the Pan AM Railroad Station on Center Street about 10:55 p.m.
The building, which survived a fire in January, went up in flames.
Once the fire was extinguished, the station was razed, authorities said.
Police, who say they have an eyewitness, charged the 16-year-old with felony arson and criminal mischief.
He was not identified, police said, because he is a possible youthful offender.
The Hoosick Falls, Hoosick, North Hoosick, Buskirk, White Creek, Pittstown Rescue and Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad helped extinguish the blaze.
